We’ve been waiting impatiently to release the Riesling “HJW Vineyard” 2023. It’s the second wine in our portfolio, and the first from the 2023 vintage, to hold the Demeter certification, showing that the fruit was grown through Biodynamic farming. The HJW Vineyard, our home estate vineyard, was officially certified by Demeter in 2023.
The vineyard’s higher elevation and greater distance from Seneca Lake results in leaner, more intense citrus and yellow apple notes. The 2023 growing season, punctuated by a late spring frost in mid-May that resulted in low yields, produced expressive wines with decades of aging potential.
Watch the TechTalk with Oskar and Director of Vineyard Biology and Biodynamic Specialist, Thijs, for a closer look at how we grow this fruit in the vineyard:
Our Pinot Noir 2024 marks a fresh chapter in our pursuit of this grape. Newly planted on the Julia site, which is shaped by our nursery research, it reflects both the character of the land and the evolving understanding of the variety that guides our work.
The last vintage that we produced was from 2019, so it’s been a half a decade since we’ve seen this precise and expressive wine. With notes of raspberry, ripe cherry, and forest floor, 2024 is a true representation of a classic cool-climate Pinot Noir. With delicate tannins, this wine has stellar aging potential and would benefit from decanting while it’s still young.

Standing Stone Gewürztraminer 2024
Standing Stone’s history with Gewürztraminer dates back to 1994, when six acres were planted. Its success led to the addition of two and a half additional acres in 2005. This temperate site protects this delicate variety through the winter and makes Gewürztraminer thrive. Since Wiemer began working with this land at Standing Stone in 2017, we have continued to explore its potential through a range of expressions and styles. The fruit was divided into two lots to capture a broader range of aromatics and textures: one was crushed and destemmed to emphasize varietal intensity, while the other was whole-cluster pressed to preserve freshness and lift. A small portion (10%) was barrel fermented, adding subtle richness and a rounded mouthfeel. Ideal with aromatic and spiced dishes—think Thai coconut curry or Moroccan tagine. Its textured palate also pairs beautifully with rich cheeses, poultry, and pork.
Listen to Oskar and Winemaker Dillon dive deeper into the story of Gewürztraminer:
This wine is a charming dance of elegance and restraint. The Chardonnay Reserve was harvested in mid-September from the Magdalena Vineyard and then fermented in our large format 500L Hungarian oak barrels for three months. After fermentation, the wine aged for an additional six months in those same barrels before bottling, leading to a beautiful round complexity.
The result is a wine with an invigorating balance. Bright and refreshing with a smooth finish, this wine is versatile and will be the perfect partner for a creamy fall pasta dish or to accompany your Thanksgiving dinner.

Standing Stone Riesling Skin Ferment 2022
Our love for Riesling stems from many qualities, but above all, it’s the grape’s remarkable versatility. It’s a variety that defies a single style, offering endless possibilities. Over the decades, we’ve created a collection that spans many expressions, from our classic Dry Riesling bottlings to our méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines like the Extra Brut and even Beerenauslese-level dessert wines such as our 2024 Noble Select. And now, we introduce to you our very first Skin-Fermented Riesling!
This Skin-Fermented Riesling spent two weeks fermenting on its skins before finishing in stainless steel. Extended skin contact amplifies its citrus and stone-fruit character, where lemon, apricot, and orange peel mingle with tea-like tannins, ginger, and a hint of savory spice. The result is a bright yet textured wine that is weighty, expressive, and just a touch rebellious. It is perfect for dishes with citrus, spice, or rich cheese as cooler weather sets in. The bright, dynamic colors of its new label reflect the wide-eyed curiosity that drives our ongoing exploration of all that Riesling has to offer.
A grape known for being varietally distinct but with vast stylistic variation, our Gewürztraminer is best described as dry and fresh! This wine draws from a 1967 plot in our Josef Vineyard, one of the oldest plantings of vinifera in the region, which produces grapes with exceptional depth and maturity. Much like Riesling, Gewürztraminer is a strain that is ideally placed in the cool climate of the Finger Lakes. Partial cold soaking before fermentation and limited skin contact during fermentation fully accentuate these traits while preserving acidity and producing a lean and focused style. Vivid, floral aromas, accompanied by hints of mango and pistachio, fruit and spice showcase the distinctive characteristics of the varietal. A vigorous play of fruit and spice leads into a long, enigmatic finish. This is a favorite for festive gatherings, and pairs beautifully with baking spices as well as savory spices.
