Blending isn’t just for “blends,” it starts long before we make the wine in the cellar. Whether we’re blending different picks of Riesling or combining several grape varieties to create a field blend, the thought process begins during harvest. Here’s an amusing twist: the first wine we typically release at Hermann J. Wiemer is our rosé, not exactly what most people think about in the depths of February, and not a wine many consider when it comes to blending nuances.
