Exploring Fermentation & Aging Vessels
June 30 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm
$30 – $50
Join us for an immersive exploration into the world of winemaking, where we delve into one of the most influential, yet often overlooked, aspects of a wine’s character: the vessel. This enlightening event invites guests to uncover how different fermentation and aging materials -such as oak barrels, stainless steel tanks, and sandstone amphorae – profoundly shape the taste, texture, and overall expression of wine.
Through a curated tasting of distinctive varietals including Chardonnay, Riesling, Saperavi, and Cabernet Franc, we’ll examine how each grape variety responds to its environment. Taste how oak can lend warmth, spice, and structure to Chardonnay or add depth and subtle tannin to a bold red like Cabernet Franc. Explore how stainless steel preserves the purity and crispness of Riesling, enhancing its aromatic vibrancy and mineral tension. And experience the ancient yet resurgent charm of sandstone, which offers gentle micro-oxygenation and imparts a soft, earthy roundness, particularly compelling in varieties like Saperavi.
Whether you’re a seasoned wine lover or an inquisitive newcomer, this event is designed to deepen your understanding of the alchemy between grape and vessel. Guided by our knowledgeable winemaking team, you’ll leave with a richer appreciation of how these choices shape the final wine in your glass.
Tickets are $50 per person and $30 per Kabinett member. Please login to receive your Kabinett discount.
To taste through our full lineup of wines please make a separate tasting reservation. We’d suggest 1:15pm as tastings will be concluded by the end of your Open Doors experience.
