A Message from Fred & Oskar – COVID-19 Measures

Mar 26, 2020 | News & Noteworthy

Dear Wiemer customers, community, & friends,

In this unprecedented moment in our company and community, with radical uncertainty facing our families, friends, and business partners, here at Wiemer and Standing Stone, we are working on addressing the situation in solidarity with our staff. We are continuously briefing the team as new recommendations emerge, assessing everyone’s social coping mechanisms and their safety nets, and trying to shape the most community-centric response.

While our tasting room is closed, we are catching the many tasks that arrive with spring. We are working outdoors with essential activities, which at this time of year include pruning and vineyard maintenance, as well as working with the nursery, grafting and shipping vines. We feel hopeful that we can take the steps within our control (as many are not!) to pull off a vintage you can enjoy on the other side of these uncertain times.

We will continue to be available to assist you via phone and email, and as we live on the property, we would be happy to ship you wine through UPS delivery. Visit shop.wiemer.com to place your order. For locals, we are offering “curbside/vineyard edge pickup” for orders placed over the phone. Please also remember that updated liquor laws allow your local wine shops and restaurants to fulfill off-premise deliveries, and they need your support!

For now, our events scheduled for summer are going ahead as planned, but everything before April 19 has been cancelled. Of course, if this changes, we will let you know. We are available to reschedule your visit.

Meanwhile, we are taking some time to come up with alternative wine activities that we can schedule when things improve. We will also be thinking through ways to keep you in the loop, should we be unable to host you in the winery in the near future.

At Wiemer, we continue to believe that good wine is a necessary accompaniment for life, and will take this time to dig deeper into our wine cellars and reacquaint ourselves with wines from simpler times. Whenever this passes and you are ready to visit Wiemer and Standing Stone again, please know that we will be ready to welcome you back!

Stay safe, take care of your loved ones, and please drink well.

-Fred, Oskar, & the team at Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard & Standing Stone
